We encourage applicants for our PhD program to submit applications as early as possible. Applications received by November 1 may be eligible for additional scholarship opportunities. However, all applications received by February 1 will still receive a full consideration.

Notice to MS Program Applicants


Applicants to the Master of Science program in Computer Science at UTSA, should have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science equivalent to that offered at UTSA.


Applicants with a bachelor degree from another discipline must complete the prerequisites prior to the beginning of the admitted term or provide additional information demonstrating accumulated extensive employment experience and/or additional qualifications beyond their academic history. Applicants are encouraged to submit a current curriculum vita, statement of purpose, and two letters of recommendation addressing their additional qualifications.

Admission Test Score Requirements

Graduate Record Examination Aptitude Test (GRE general) is not required for MS program admission. However, applicants who have completed their undergraduate course work several years prior to seeking entry into the MS program may consider submission of test scores.

GRE scores are required for PhD program admission.

English Proficiency Requirement (International Applicants Only) Prove proficiency in the English language by submitting either the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) examinations. Required score minimums are listed on the Graduate School website. Scores must be sent directly to the Graduate School from the ETS or IELTS testing center, copies of scores are not accepted as official. At the time the student enrolls, the official test score must be less than two (2) years old. UTSA institution code for ETS is 6919.

Notice to PhD Program Applicants

 

Applicants to the PhD program should have a CS background equivalent to those listed here. Applicants without a bechalor degree in computer science and lack the following courses (or the equivalent courses) will typically be denied.
