Atlas F. Cook IV, PhD student in Computer Science in Dr. Carola Wenk's group, received the UTSA Presidential Dissertation Fellowship this year for his dissertation project "Obstacle-Avoiding Similarity Metrics". This fellowship recognizes students who have demonstrated that their research makes an important contribution to their field of study. Atlas will use the $2,500 award amount to fund research trips to colleagues at UT Dallas and at Utrecht University in the Netherlands.
