UTSA Ranked #1 in the Nation in Cyber Security
Sponsored by Hewlitt-Packard, the Ponemon Institute recently conducted a survey of around 2,000 IT security professionals regarding the top universities in the United States in cyber security, and UTSA came out as #1. According to computerworld.com, UTSA was ranked #1 due to the following factors:
"UTSA's 14 undergraduate and graduate programs in areas such as digital forensics, secure design and intrusion detection and response"
"The experience and expertise of program faculty and the school's professional reputation within the security community"
Joining UTSA in the top 10 are Norwich University (2nd), Mississippi State University (3rd), Syracuse University (tie for 4th), Carnegie Mellon University (tie for 4th), Purdue University (5th), the University of Southern California (6th), the University of Pittsburgh (tie for 7th), George Mason University (tie for 7th), West Chester University (8th), the U.S. Military Academy at West Point (9th), and the University of Washington in Seattle (10th).
This prestigious distinction is one of several recent accolades for cyber security research at UTSA. Dr. Greg White was recently named an ISSA Distinguished Fellow, and Dr. White and Dr. Ravi Sandhu were recently ranked in the top 35 professors in computer security.
