Traditionally, scheduling has been an important aspect in real-time systems to ensure soft/hard timing constraints. As real-time computing becomes complicated with more limitations (e.g., power consumption), the demand for more sophisticated scheduling techniques becomes increasingly apparent. The workshop focuses on the current technological challenges of developing scheduling algorithms. The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers from industry and academia who are interested in all aspects of scheduling techniques for real-time systems. The workshop will provide a relaxed forum to present and discuss new ideas, new research directions and to review current trends in this area. The workshop will be based on short presentations that should encourage discussion among the attendees. The workshop targets all aspects of real-time scheduling techniques, including but not limited to:

  • Power aware scheduling for real time systems

  • Heuristic scheduling for real-time systems

  • Parallel real-time scheduling

  • Scheduling for distributed real-time systems

  • Schedulability test, analysis and verification

  • QoS scheduling for multimedia applications

Submission of Papers

You are invited to submit a paper via email to Dr. Dakai Zhu at dzhu@cs.utsa.edu. Papers should be written in English and submitted papers should follow the Springer’s LNCS format and must not exceed 6 pages in length. Papers must be submitted in PDF format. The papers will be reviewed by the workshop Program Committee. Once your paper is accepted, at least one of the authors should register and present the paper.  

There will be a small charge for the workshop registration. The workshop will be held in Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi’an, P.R.China. See ICESS website (http://icess2005.nwpu.edu.cn) for information on the venue.

Notification of results: September 10, 2005
Final copy due: September 23, 2005
