Hotel information for ICESS 2009

ICESS'09 will be held at Sunday Sunny Resort in Hangzhou Zhejiang (P.R.China). The conference organizing committee has reserved a block of rooms for the conference attendees at discounted price. All rooms have free internet access. There are two types of rooms as follows:

  • Double room (with two single bed): 350CNY (around 52 USD)
     

  • Deluxe suite (with a double bed): 440CNY (around 65 USD)

Please fill out the following hotel room reservation form and send it to Dr. Jiangwei Huang (hjw@zju.edu.cn ). Note that the month of May is the tourist season in Hangzhou, to ensure that you get the discounted price, you should send the form by the cut-off day March 23, 2009.

Visa Information

If you are NOT the citizen of P.R.China, you may need a visa for attending the conference. Please visit the webpage of Chinese Embassy website at your country for more information. In case you need a visa invitation letter, please send the following information to Dr. Jiajun Bu (bjj AT zju.edu.cn):

  • Full name as appeared on passport

  • University/organization/company where you work

  • Your paper ID (in case you are the author of one paper)

  • Dates that you will be in China

Travel Information

There are two nearby international airports: Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport (HGH) and Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG).

  • Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport (HGH): If you fly from abroad to Hangzhou XiaoShan Airport, you can take a taxi to the hotel. The fare is around RMB130. You can also choose to take the airport shuttle bus to downtown. (one in every half an hour from 5:45am to 8:00pm, the fare is about RMB15). Then you can take a taxi to Sunday Sunny resort (around 25RMB).

  • Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG): If you fly from abroad to Shanghai Pudong International Airport, there are two approaches to get to Hangzhou:

    •  Shuttle bus from the Pudong Airport to Hangzhou (direct and about 3 hours) and the fare is RMB100. Just out of the No.15 exit and cross the street and get upstairs, you will find the ticket office. The schedule for the shuttle from Pudong International Airport to Hangzhou: 9:50am; 11:00am; 12:00am; 13:30pm; 15:30pm; 17:30pm; 19:30pm. Once you arrive in Hangzhou, you can take a taxi to Sunday Sunny resort (around 25RMB). Please download the hotel address card in both Chinese and English. You can show this to the taxi driver in case you have difficulty in communication. (The schedule for the shuttle from Hangzhou Huanglong Stadium back to Shanghai Pudong International Airport: 7:00am; 8:30am, 10:30am; 12:30am; 13:30pm; 14:30pm; 16:00pm. )

    • Train: In case you want to experience the high-speed trains, First, you need to take a taxi from airport to Shanghai South Railway Station. Then, the train journey from Shanghai South railway Station to Hangzhou Station (or Hangzhou East Station) is about two hours depending on which one you catch (We suggest you to take CRH train). When you go to the booth in the train station to buy the ticket, write down on a piece of paper the time and date of departure, destination, and number of tickets you want to buy. Show this paper to the clerk at the booth in order to avoid a misunderstanding. There are two classes of tickets available: soft seats, and hard seats. Soft seats are very comfortable. Hard seats are the lowest class of them all, but also the cheapest. Both stations have special booths for foreigners. There you don't have to wait as long as at the regular booths, but prices are more expensive. One you arrive Hangzhou Station (or Hangzhou East Station), you can take a taxi to Sunday Sunny resort (around 35RMB).
