The Second Int'l WORKSHOP ON POWER-AWARE REAL-TIME COMPUTING (PARC 2005)
September 22, 2005
Jersey City, New Jersey, USA

In conjunction with the EMSoft'05

Preliminary program and papers (PDF) are available now!!!

PARC was started last year and focuses on the current technological challenges of developing power-aware computing devices, ranging from servers to portable and wearable systems, to deeply embedded system, under various types of real-time constraints. The main focus will be on software techniques. The goal of this workshop is to bring together people from industry and academia that are interested in all aspects of power-aware computing. The workshop will provide a relaxed forum to present and discuss new ideas, new research directions and to review current trends in this area. The workshop will be based on short presentations that should encourage discussion among the attendees. The topics of the workshop include any issue related to power-aware computing, in particular for embedded and real-time systems, including but not limited to:

  • Low-power appliances and embedded devices: design and analysis
  • Power management at the operating system, middleware, compiler, and architectural levels
  • Software optimization techniques for low power
  • Tools for energy-aware hardware-software design and analysis
  • Power-aware applications
  • Power aware networking and distributed systems
  • Power-aware fault tolerant systems
  • Power-aware cryptographic algorithms and protocols

Submission of Papers

People who would like to participate in this event are asked to submit a paper to the workshop chairpersons via email (dzhu@cs.utsa.edu) . Submitted papers should follow the IEEE conference format (LaTex style files are available here) and must not exceed 6 pages in length. Papers must be in submitted in PDF format. The papers will be reviewed by the workshop Program Committee. All accepted papers will be made available to all participants one week before the workshop so that contributions can be examined prior to the event.

The workshop sessions will involve relatively short presentations followed by a discussion panel. After the workshop, authors will be asked to produce, a final version of their papers that includes the issues covered in the discussions. These final versions will be included in the workshop proceedings that will then be sent to the authors. The publication of the workshop proceedings in ENTCS is also under consideration.

There will be a small charge for workshop registration. The workshop will be held in Jersey City, New Jersey (across the river from downtown Manhattan). See the EMSOFT website (http://www.emsoft.org/) for information on the venue.
