International Journal of Embedded Systems (IJES)

Special Issue on Low-Power Real-time Embedded Computing

Overview

The performance of modern computing systems has increased at the expense of dramatically increased power consumption. For battery-powered embedded systems, power-awareness is one of the key performance requirements to achieve the performance objectives with limited energy, especially those involving time constraints.   Papers are sought in the general area of low-power real-time embedded systems, presenting novel techniques at the operating system, middleware,  compiler or architecture levels. Papers exploring the trade-offs between power, QoS, security and reliability requirements in real-time embedded systems are also welcome.

Topics of interest include, but not limited to:

  • Low-power appliances and embedded devices: design and analysis
  • Power-aware scheduling
  • Software optimization techniques for low power
  • Power-aware hardware-software co-design
  • Power-aware media and stream processing
  • Power-aware fault tolerant systems and reliability analysis
  • Power-aware cryptographic algorithms and protocols

Instructions to the authors

Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript by email to Dr. Dakai Zhu at (dzhu@cs.utsa.edu), in PDF or postscript format.  Submissions should include a cover page specifying the authors’ names, affiliations and contact information. Papers should not exceed 15 single-spaced pages in length.  Submitted papers should include original research work not published (or, under review) elsewhere.  Submissions based on papers previously presented at conferences or workshops should include a summary of extensions incorporated to the original paper.
