Kay Robbins: Software engineering curriculum development

Motivation: Although software engineering is not my area of research, I have found a critical need for it in implementing the visualizations and tools required to support my research. It is also clear to me that CS needs to develop strong software engineering programs at the undergraduate and graduate level to support the needs of the San Antonio community.

Curriculum: I am currently the chair of the CS Curriculum committee (2005 - 2007). In the fall semester of 2005, we did a major revision of the graduate curriculum. As part of that revision we have submitted a proposal for a Concentration in Software Engineering which should be fully in place in 2007.

Course web pages: I have developed 3 courses to support software engineering. These courses deal with the more practical aspects of implementation which I face on a daily basis in trying to develop visualizations.
