Notes:
  1. Weekly Quizzes: On each Friday class (the first one on September 8 and the last one on December 1 -- skipping September 1 and weeks 13 and 15) there will be a short quiz over readings and over the material recently covered. This is 12 quizzes. I will drop the two lowest grades, so only the top 10 count. In general I will not be giving make-up quizzes, so you need to save up your misses for times when you have to miss.

  2. One-page Essays: These will have a topic assigned ahead of time and will always be due on a Wednesday.

  3. Web Resource Project: This is a separate project for each student, in which the student researches a topic on the web and produces information and links to relevant sites.

  4. Attendance: Attendance will be given just as a percentage of the classes that I will check for attendence. (I will check at least 23 classes.) I will allow three misses without penalty, so attending all but three of the particular classes I check will give you full credit for this part. However, you should not waste these three free misses, since I will not be considering excused absenses.

On Fridays I'll use your quiz to keep track of your attendance, and then one other day per week I'll use the quiz that I hand back to keep track of attendence.

  5. Final Exam: This will be comprehensive over the entire course. Here is final from fall 1999,
